Feroniella lucida

Feroniellides D and E, new triterpenoids isolated from the plant, demonstrated more potent anticancer activity than previously known feroniellides A-C against KB and HeLa cells. Additionally, a furanocoumarin and other compounds were found in the roots of Feroniella lucida, with one showing strong cytotoxicity, antimalarial, and antituberculosis activities. The synthesis of feroniellins using a "ring-size-divergent" strategy also helped revise the structures and determine their absolute configurations. Another compound, feronielloside, was found to inhibit acetylcholinesterase with an IC50 value of 24.7 mM. To date, no major safety issues or drug interactions have been recorded for Feroniella lucida.
